Pete's story 

I started with Silver Lining back in May 2023.Initially I required support to carry out my weekly shopping, like most men I would spend countless hours wandering around the shop and still manage to leave with nothing, the girls keep me right. They now have a weekly list of my favourite things and support me to navigate around the shop. They encourage me to make choices and decisions on what extras I need. My voice is always heard, they listen and put my needs first.I now even have time to enjoy lunch while watching the world go by in the supermarket. I love people watching so this is really important to me. I then secured a second weekly visit to get out and about and have some lunch, unfortunately the days of me doing this alone are gone.I like to go with the flow, not be rushed however I appreciate the girls are always trying to maximise my time with them, so now I get a little call prior to them arriving which gives me time to do what I need to do and get organised. They support me to keep my gas and electric topped-up, accompany me to the bank when required, support me with mail which at times can cause me confusion, arrange barber appointments when I need it and also support me to medical appointments and anything else I need, nothings ever a problem. For me twice a week just wasn’t enough, I valued the time getting out and about so much, in my younger years I was never in, so recent years have been difficult.I’m over the moon to now have 3 visits weekly, I now go out for my tea once a week which I thoroughly enjoy. A few weeks ago I went to the Birkhill Inn - it was fantastic! I hadn’t been there for many many years. With Silver Linings support my life is organised, I get out and about weekly, I even enjoyed a day out in St Andrews which was just brilliant.I’ve been on drives to a whole range of places, enjoyed lunch at various places, visited McManus museum, went on the big wheel everything is centred around me and I’m so grateful.Without Silver Lining I don’t know where I’d be. These girls Katie, Hannah and Cheryl are so good at what they do, but most importantly they are my mates. Pete x
